The Ford Tri-Motor contributed substantially to the concept of air travel to the American public. Before they were superceded, 95 airlines worldwide flew them. A Tri-Motor served as Franklin Roosevelt's campaign plane for the 1932 election. The three engines offered safety and dependability, but made the passenger compartment extremely noisy.
